Retargeting also called re-targeting and Google Remarketing is an online marketing technique. With retargeting, advertisers can continue to target warm contacts after visiting a website. Technically, retargeting takes place with ad servers and cookies, which are used to mark visitors to a website.
The word retargeting already describes what can be imagined under the term: Re = again; targeting = targeting – a new targeting. It is an online marketing tool that is used to address users again after visiting a website on other sites. In line with the previous actions of the user, such as viewing or buying a specific item, the ads can then be adjusted and special offers can be advertised that are geared to the user’s interests. Ideally, the user visits the original site again and carries out the desired action (eg purchase or registration).
